At least that’s what the transfer rumor mill is producing, as PL clubs battle to remove Man City from their Premier League perch and take Chelsea off the Champions League podium.
Raphinha in Liverpool
After adding to his depth on defense with Ibrahima Konate, Liverpool have reportedly turned their eyes to the country to boost their attack.
Raphinha is the mentioned target in Brazil as Liverpool consider a transfer of $ 44million for the Leeds United spark plug.
A bag of stuff with power to start, Raphinha, 24, has collected six goals and nine assists in 30 Premier League appearances since Marcelo Bielsa recruited him from Stade Rennais last fall.
Raphinha also finished strong with three assists in Leeds’ four-game winning streak at the end of the season.
Liverpool paid Wolves almost the exact fee for Diogo Jota, so Raphinha is not coming for less than the $ 44million price tag.
Would you expect Bielsa to cash in or expect more?
Xhaka in Rome at the latest
Reports of Jose Mourinho’s hopes of bringing Granit Xhaka from London to Rome are not going away, and now there are details as to how Roma plan to play for less than the price Arsenal is asking for.
Last week, Mourinho reportedly circled Xhaka as No.1 target for the summer transfer window, with Roma hoping $ 15million would do the trick despite Arsenal hoping for $ 30million.
Now CalcioMercato.com announces that Roma will offer two young talents to the Gunners as part of a trade:
- Cengiz Under: The 23-year-old winger was loaned to Leicester City in September, joining best friend Caglar Soyuncu but getting all of his 941 minutes before the end of February. Under has scored twice with three assists for the Foxes, but has a season of 10 assists for Roma and an 8-goal campaign.
- Amadou Diawara occupies the same position as Arsenal defensive midfielder Thomas Partey. The 12-cap Guinea international will turn 24 in July and have made 58 appearances for Roma in the past two seasons.
Diawara makes a bit more sense assuming Mikel Arteta assesses him and is ready to let him go, but there are serious issues here as Roma don’t have too many intriguing pieces that Mourinho would be willing to send.
