Take a break from spending big on your next getaway with these simple tips
TRAVEL rules are about to change and vacations may soon return to normal.
The traffic light system will be phased out from October 4, so it’s time to start planning a well-earned overseas trip. Stop spending big on your getaway with these simple tips. . .
Stop spending big on your getaway with these simple tips. . .
REDUCE CLOTHING COSTS: Take out old clothes and turn them into summer vacation outfits – cut jeans to turn shorts and t-shirts into vests – and you can also check out outlets online. The Next clearance sale offers children’s clothing starting at just £ 1.50, while the Mothercare at Boots sale includes 50% off swimwear and swimwear.
LOAD A CARD: Get a bank card that you can load money on or use for free abroad. Starling Bank’s is accepted in 190 countries, with no fees or scary exchange rates. Plus, I like the budgeting tools it offers so you can stay on top of your spending overseas.
SORT TRIP TO TT AIRPORT: Book any train you might need ASAP and it should be cheaper.
AVOID ANTICIPATED EXPENSES: It’s easy to end up paying inflated airport fees, like having breakfast at a restaurant or cafe there before your vacation. Instead, you can take much of your own food with you into the departure lounge. Cakes, sandwiches, fruits, vegetables and all other solid foods may be subject to security checks at UK airports.
PRE-BOOK RENTAL CAR: As far as that and insurance goes, doing it when you land can cost a fortune. You can also book your own independent insurance for the rental instead of the exorbitant prices offered by the rental companies. If you are going on holiday with young children, try to bring your own child car seat as this can cost around £ 100 per week to hire locally.
EAT CHEAPER: When dining with the family abroad, opt for lunch or early evening dishes, because it is the best value for money. And swap expensive puddings for a walk and a popsicle at a local store.
