PSG and Pochettino step up efforts to sign Tottenham’s Dele Alli on loan | Paris Saint Germain

Paris Saint-Germain are hoping to sign Dele Alli on loan this month, with Mauricio Pochettino telling club hierarchy that the Tottenham midfielder is his main target this transfer window.

Pochettino and Alli have worked together very successfully for over four years at Tottenham and the Argentine told PSG he believes Alli can make a big contribution for the rest of the season. The Ligue 1 side have also been linked to another former Tottenham player, Christian Eriksen, but it’s Alli that Pochettino is interested in.

Alli has wanted a change for six months, having fallen through the Spurs hierarchy under José Mourinho. The midfielder has only made four league appearances this season, totaling 74 minutes, making six more Europa League appearances and two domestic cup appearances.

Tottenham are reluctant to let Alli go on loan with president Daniel Levy with Mourinho agreeing that every player will be needed for a hectic six months. Spurs have reached the Carabao Cup final, are still in the FA Cup and Europa League and are just six points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United.

The 24-year-old hasn’t fallen out with anyone at the club but wants to play more minutes, especially with the European Championship coming up this summer, should the tournament take place. Further discussions between the clubs are expected to take place in the coming days.
